Early Thursday morning, reports indicated that Nadi town was completely impassable due to the conditions that have persisted since Christmas Day.

The Fiji Roads Authority has issued a warning urging residents and travelers to exercise extreme caution when navigating the affected areas and to strictly follow all road closures. The Fiji police advised individuals living in flood-prone regions from Sigatoka to Nausori to seek higher ground for their safety.

A heavy rain warning has been announced, particularly affecting the Northern Division, with the Fiji Metservice indicating that ongoing heavy rainfall could cause further flash flooding in low-lying or flood-prone regions. The rain alerts extend to areas such as Northern Lau, and a flash flood warning has been issued for specific locations including Dreketilailai, Nayarabale, and Labasa town.

On Thursday morning, the Dreketilailai weather station recorded an impressive 57.5mm of rain within just three hours, while Nayarabale saw 55mm. In a 24-hour span leading up to 3 am, Nayarabale reported a total of 104mm.
