Heavy rainfall overnight in Fiji’s Eastern Division has led to significant flooding, submerging homes and affecting several areas across the country. In Wailoku, residents are dealing with homes that remain underwater, while others are working to remove debris from their properties.
The Fiji Meteorological Services report that the Eastern Division is still facing intense rainfall leading to flash flooding in many low-lying regions. The Nadi Weather Office has indicated that these weather conditions are caused by a trough of low pressure hovering over Fiji, which is gradually shifting eastward.
Showers related to this system are expected to continue in the impacted areas until later today, while other divisions might see partly cloudy skies with occasional rainfall. More updates will follow as the situation develops.
