According to the Fiji Meteorological Service, a flood warning remains in effect for all of Fiji, as there is a continued risk of flooding in low-lying areas, drainage systems, small streams, and near businesses. The weather service warns that major flooding could impact key roads, causing significant disruptions to traffic, essential services, and power supply.
There is also concern for communities living near streams and riverbanks, as they may face displacement due to flooding and the increased risk of landslides. Additionally, areas downstream of major rivers and coastal regions may experience severe flooding, particularly during high tide.
Despite the challenges presented by the severe weather, the resilience and unity within these communities demonstrate a hopeful spirit. Efforts are being made by local authorities and organizations to ensure the safety and well-being of those affected, showcasing the strength of community support during difficult times.
This situation serves as a reminder of the importance of preparedness and response plans in natural disasters, as well as the incredible strength and solidarity of people coming together in times of crisis.
