The Fiji Meteorological Service has issued a flash flood alert, cautioning residents about the possibility of flash flooding in various regions across the country. The alert is particularly focused on the eastern half of Viti Levu, impacting areas ranging from Serua-Namosi through Navua, Suva, Nausori to Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, as well as the Northern Division.
The Weather Office in Nadi reports that a trough of low pressure is expected to arrive tomorrow, bringing with it cloud cover, showers, and significant rainfall to the eastern and northern sections of Fiji. Authorities have raised concerns that isolated heavy rains could result in flash floods, especially in drainage systems, small streams, and low-lying crossings, roads, and properties known to be vulnerable to flooding.
