Fiji FA Steps Up: Financial Aid for Former Players’ Families

The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) has reaffirmed its dedication to aiding the families of former players by offering financial support for their children’s education. During the awards ceremony for the RC Manubhai/Apco Coatings Veterans Tournament, which took place at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva on Sunday, the organization presented $500 cheques to former national players Semi Tabaiwalu, Kini Tubi, and Hendry Dyer.

This initiative forms part of Fiji FA’s social responsibility efforts to acknowledge the contributions of past players and provide assistance to their families. Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel stressed the importance of remembering former players for their hard work, noting that the governing body is committed to ensuring their legacies live on and that their efforts are duly recognized.

The financial support is generated through the RC Manubhai/APCO Coatings International Veteran’s tournament, with proceeds directed specifically towards the education of former players’ children. Patel mentioned that the initiative currently aims to assist four families each year, with hopes of expanding support based on the tournament’s revenue in the future. The selection of beneficiaries is conducted by the trustees of the Veteran’s Committee, ensuring a fair and considerate process.
