The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) has reaffirmed that its Legends Club Membership card remains valid for all Fiji FA–sanctioned tournaments, following a public concern raised by former national player Ravuama Madigi. Madigi, a prominent figure in Fiji’s football history, voiced his frustration on social media after being denied entry to the Ba and Navua Extra Super Premier League match at Govind Park despite possessing the card. He expressed disappointment with the incident, criticizing the card as “useless” despite its intended purpose to honor former players.
Madigi’s experience highlighted a potential issue at match venues concerning the recognition of the Legends Club Membership card. In response, Fiji FA CEO Mohammed Yusuf clarified that the problem was due to a lapse in awareness among security and ticket handlers at the event—many of whom were new to the system under the Ba Town Council’s management. Yusuf reassured that these growing pains are part of the adaptation process for new staff and confirmed that Madigi was also offered four tickets by Ba FC.
This situation brings to light the importance of smooth operational communications at event sites to avoid similar misunderstandings in the future. The Fiji FA’s response indicates a commitment to addressing any disruptions in its events management process, ensuring that the privileges for former players are respected and upheld.
Such proactive measures and clear communication can further strengthen the relationship between the Fiji FA and its veteran players, promoting a culture of appreciation and respect within Fijian football. This commitment to improvement in event management also serves as a positive signal to fans and stakeholders about the organization’s dedication to maintaining the integrity and tradition of football in Fiji.
