The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) Awards Night is set to make a much-anticipated return this year after a three-year break. With 14 prestigious awards on offer, the event has gained the support of a new sponsor, Extra Supermarket, promising a grander and more memorable celebration.
Fiji FA’s chief executive officer, Mohammed Yusuf, emphasized the significance of the awards in fostering unity within the football community and recognizing the remarkable contributions of individuals and teams within the sport. “The awards night is to bring the football fraternity together after a three-year hiatus to acknowledge the achievements and dedication of the clubs,” Yusuf explained.
This year’s event aims to celebrate the outstanding efforts of players, coaches, teams, officials, and volunteers involved in Fiji’s football landscape. Yusuf has called upon all 20 Fiji FA-affiliated clubs to submit nominations, ensuring that individuals’ hard work does not go unrecognized. He encouraged club participation to help their stars shine during the awards night.
New categories will be introduced this year to appreciate the varied contributions across Fiji’s football community. The awards include distinctions such as Male and Female Footballer of the Year, Young Male and Female Footballer of the Year, Futsal Player of the Year (Male and Female), Team of the Year, Administrator of the Year, Coach of the Year, Referee of the Year, Elite Player of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, and Employee of the Year.
The Extra Supermarket Fiji FA Awards Night 2024 is scheduled for December 1 at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Nadi, and promises to be an exciting evening honoring the finest in Fijian football.
This return not only revives a cherished tradition but also highlights the resilience of the football community in Fiji, showcasing their dedication and passion for the sport. As the event approaches, anticipation builds for a night of celebration, camaraderie, and recognition of the sport’s true stars.
