The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) Awards Night is set to return after a three-year break, bringing with it 14 esteemed awards to recognize excellence in the sport. Supported by Extra Supermarket, the new sponsorship aims to enhance this year’s event significantly.

Fiji FA chief executive Mohammed Yusuf emphasized the gala’s importance, stating that it will serve to bring together the football community while celebrating the efforts of individuals and teams in Fiji’s football landscape. He encouraged all 20 Fiji FA-affiliated clubs to submit nominations for their standout players, coaches, officials, and volunteers, highlighting the need for recognition of their hard work and commitment.

“Clubs are urged to participate actively and ensure their stars shine at the awards night,” Yusuf said.

This year’s ceremony will introduce several new categories to better honor the diverse contributions within the football community. The awards will include the Footballer of the Year (Male and Female), Young Footballer of the Year (Male and Female), Futsal Player of the Year (Male and Female), Team of the Year, Administrator of the Year, Coach of the Year, Referee of the Year, Elite Player of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, and Employee of the Year.

Yusuf noted that these expanded categories will allow for a more comprehensive recognition of achievements in both football and futsal while also acknowledging the crucial roles of those who support the sport’s development across the nation.

The Extra Supermarket Fiji FA Awards Night 2024 is scheduled to take place on December 1 at Crown Plaza Hotel in Nadi, promising to be a celebration of talent and dedication in the sport.

This event signifies a return to normalcy and a renewed commitment to celebrating the tireless efforts of individuals who contribute to the vibrant football culture in Fiji. It not only acknowledges the past accomplishments but also inspires future generations to engage with and excel in the sport.
