The Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar Industry, Hon. Charan Jeath Singh, is actively participating in the 33rd International Sugar Organization Council seminar in London, representing Fiji as an ISO member. During his visit, the Minister engaged in discussions with the Directors of the Czarnikow Group, a prominent player in the global sugar trade, focusing on opportunities to enhance Fiji’s market presence and expand its product range. This initiative aims to secure better prices and improved profitability for local farmers.
The Czarnikow Group has maintained a long-standing relationship with Fiji, dating back over a century to the time of the Colonial Sugar Refining and continuing through partnerships with the Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC).
This collaboration signifies a hopeful step forward for Fiji’s sugar industry, as expanding market reach and diversifying products could lead to greater economic stability and growth for local farmers. Such partnerships not only strengthen international ties but could also create new opportunities for innovation in Fiji’s sugar sector.
This engagement underlines the commitment of the Fijian government to bolster agricultural initiatives, ensuring farmers benefit from improved trade conditions in a competitive global market.
