Fiji may soon utilize innovative nanomaterials and nanotechnology-based fertilizers from China, pending successful trials, according to Sugar Industry Minister Charan Jeath Singh.
The minister recently met with a delegation from Shenzhen King Quenson Industry Company Limited at the Sugar Research Institute of Fiji (SRIF) in Lautoka to discuss fertilizers that could enhance sugar and agricultural production in Fiji.
“The new fertilizers will undergo thorough testing by the SRIF to assess their effectiveness,” Mr. Singh stated. “This is a serious initiative aimed at improving the industry’s output and sustainability.”
Shenzhen King Quenson Industry Company Limited is recognized as a leading agrochemical manufacturer in China.
“We are excited about the potential for collaboration and are eager to seize this opportunity,” said Vinesh Kumar, CEO of the institute. “This innovative approach, leveraging nanomaterials and nanotechnology, provides a holistic solution for our agricultural needs.”
Trials of the fertilizers have taken place on a low-production field in Rakiraki.
“In the upcoming months, we will collect enough data to demonstrate the quality and effectiveness of the fertilizers proposed by Shenzhen King Quenson Industry,” Mr. Kumar added.
