Fiji has marked an impressive milestone by ending a 22-tournament dry spell, clinching victory at the Dubai Sevens today. Coached by Osea Kolinisau, the Fijian team overcame Spain with a score of 19-5 in an exhilarating final held at the Sevens Stadium in the United Arab Emirates.

This victory holds particular significance for Kolinisau, who captained the Fijian team to their last win at Dubai Sevens in 2015. The final began with veteran Paul Pla scoring the first try for Spain in under two minutes, putting immediate pressure on the Fijians. However, the tide turned just before halftime when Filipe Sauturaga leveled the score with a well-executed try, showcasing the team’s resilience.

During the second half, Fiji displayed a commanding performance. With determination and focus, Captain Jerry Matana and Ilikimi Torosi each contributed tries, securing a well-deserved victory and signaling their return to the top of the podium.

This win is not just a moment of triumph for the team but a powerful reminder of Fiji’s rich rugby heritage, showcasing their ability to bounce back and conquer challenges on the international stage. Fans can look forward to more outstanding performances as Fiji re-establishes itself among the elite in rugby sevens.
