The Foundation for the Education of Needy Children in Fiji (FENC Fiji) is set to provide educational support to over 5,000 students under its 2026 child education support scheme. This initiative is scheduled for distribution on January 12.
National Executive Coordinator Nirmala Nambiar emphasized that the $300,000 funding, provided by the government as a grant, is a critical part of the foundation’s efforts to assist families throughout both the islands and the interior regions of Fiji. She noted that this significant sum is not limited to a single project but underpins various educational initiatives aimed at supporting children across the nation.
Nambiar mentioned the recent comments made by the Minister for Education regarding back-to-school assistance, highlighting the necessity for families to have the requisite documentation. The assistance package offered by FENC Fiji includes essential stationery items specified in application forms, which can be collected from local offices of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government.
Administrator Reijieli Liu voiced pride in how this support has positively reached various communities, particularly aiding children in remote areas. Over the past three years, FENC Fiji has impacted more than 40,000 children, demonstrating its commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for the most vulnerable in society.
This initiative reflects a broader commitment to ensuring that every child, regardless of their location or socio-economic status, has access to educational resources, fostering hope for a brighter future for Fiji’s youth.
