Fiji Edges Solomon Islands in Thrilling Penalty Shootout!

Fiji triumphed over the Solomon Islands 6-5 in a penalty shootout during their final group match at the 2024 OFC Men’s Beach Soccer Nations Cup in Honiara. The match was highly competitive, ending in a 2-2 draw and necessitating a shootout to determine the winner.

Fiji’s goals during regulation time were scored by captain Tevita Waranaivalu and Steven Dean. Waranaivalu successfully converted Fiji’s first penalty kick. Other players who scored in the shootout included Dean, Adriu Nabose, France Catarogo, along with goalkeepers Sanaila Waqanicakau and Ilisoni Koro.

Despite this victory, Fiji did not qualify for Saturday’s final, which will feature the defending champions Tahiti and the Solomon Islands. Earlier in the tournament, Fiji faced defeats, losing 8-6 to Papua New Guinea and 10-1 to Tahiti.
