Fiji secured its second consecutive victory in the OFC Futsal Women’s Nations Cup held in the Solomon Islands, defeating Tonga 4-0.
The team, under the guidance of coach Jerry Sam, started strong after having won their opening match against Tahiti 2-1. Fiji opened the scoring just ten seconds into the match, with Sofi Diyalowai capitalizing on a defensive error from Tonga and confidently placing the ball past goalkeeper Kalolaine Topui.
Tonga managed to maintain the scoreline at 1-0 until halftime. However, Fiji came out with renewed energy in the second half, adding three more goals. Diyalowai found the net again, followed by strikes from Koleta Likuculacula and captain Unaisi Tuberi.
Both teams will have a day off before Fijji faces New Zealand, and Tonga takes on the hosts, Solomon Islands.
