Fiji secured its second consecutive victory in the OFC Futsal Women’s Nations Cup held in the Solomon Islands, dominating Tonga with a 4-0 scoreline.
After a successful start to the tournament with a 2-1 win over Tahiti, Fiji wasted no time in taking control against Tonga, scoring just ten seconds into the match. Sofi Diyalowai capitalized on a defensive error from Tonga to strike early, sending the ball past goalkeeper Kalolaine Topui.
Despite this early setback, Tonga managed to hold off Fiji for the remainder of the first half. However, the second half saw Fiji come out with renewed intensity, adding three more goals to their tally through contributions from Diyalowai, Koleta Likuculacula, and team captain Unaisi Tuberi.
Both teams will have a day to recover before Fiji takes on New Zealand, while Tonga prepares to face the host nation, the Solomon Islands.
