Fiji achieved its second consecutive victory in the OFC Futsal Women’s Nations Cup, held in the Solomon Islands, defeating Tonga 4-0 today.
After a 2-1 win over Tahiti in their opening match, Fiji started strong, scoring just ten seconds into the game. Sofi Diyalowai capitalized on a defensive error by Tonga to put Fiji on the board, firing past goalkeeper Kalolaine Topui.
Tonga managed to hold Fiji to a single goal until halftime. However, Fiji came out rejuvenated in the second half, adding three more goals by Diyalowai, Koleta Likuculacula, and team captain Unaisi Tuberi.
Both teams will have a day off before Fiji takes on New Zealand, while Tonga faces the host nation, Solomon Islands.
