Fiji Dominates Solomon Islands to Secure Second Place in MSG Cup

The Bula Boys concluded their journey in the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Prime Ministers Cup held in Honiara, Solomon Islands, securing second place behind Papua New Guinea. Fiji showcased an impressive performance throughout the tournament, remaining unbeaten and taking down the host nation, the Solomon Islands, with a score of 3-1 in their final match.

The match saw Gabriel Matanisiga open the scoring for Fiji in the 33rd minute, followed by Sairusi Nalaubu who added another goal right before halftime, leaving Fiji with a solid 2-0 lead. Thomas Dunn then extended the advantage with a goal in the 56th minute. Although Atkin Kaua scored for the Solomon Islands in the 79th minute, Fiji effectively managed the remainder of the match to secure their victory.

Earlier in the day, Papua New Guinea clinched the title by defeating Vanuatu 2-1, finishing the tournament with 10 points. The Fijian team, under the guidance of coach Marika Rodu, concluded with 8 points, achieved through two victories and two draws.
