Fiji’s beach soccer team secured a 4-0 victory over Papua New Guinea, with standout player France Catarogo netting three goals to help his team finish third in the OFC Beach Soccer Men’s Nations Cup held in Honiara.
In their earlier match of the tournament, Papua New Guinea had triumphed over Fiji 8-2 in what was Fiji’s first game, as the team was missing key players, including captain Tevita Waranaivalu and starter Madhwan Gounder, who arrived late.
The match began with Northland Tailevu’s Steven Dean putting Fiji on the scoreboard in the 8th minute, followed quickly by Catarogo, who scored his first goal eight minutes later. Catarogo continued to shine, adding two more goals in the 22nd and 34th minutes to secure the win for his team.
