Fiji’s France Catarogo shone brightly as he netted three goals, leading his team to a convincing 4-0 victory over Papua New Guinea in the OFC Beach Soccer Men’s Nations Cup held in Honiara. This win secured Fiji a third-place finish in the tournament.

The two teams had faced off in an earlier match, which marked Papua New Guinea’s inaugural international Beach Soccer encounter, ending in a surprising 8-2 victory for the newcomers. Fiji was at a disadvantage during that match, as they were missing key players, including captain Tevita Waranaivalu and first-choice starter Madhwan Gounder, who arrived late.

In the decisive match, Fiji’s Steven Dean initiated the scoring in the 8th minute, followed by Catarogo, who found the net eight minutes later. Catarogo later completed his hat trick with goals in the 22nd and 34th minutes, showcasing a dominant performance from the team.
