The Fiji 7s rugby team delivered an impressive performance against Argentina, securing a spot in the HSBC Dubai 7s gold medal final with a decisive 43-21 victory. The Fijian squad showcased their skill by scoring seven tries compared to Argentina’s three, clearly establishing their dominance on the field.

From the start, Fiji set the pace of the match, taking a solid 21-7 lead into halftime. The team’s strong defensive play and composure under pressure allowed them to maintain control and optimize their possession throughout the game.

The scoring began early, with George Bose crossing the line just two minutes into the match, followed swiftly by Joji Nasova at the four-minute mark and captain Jeremaia Matana at the seven-minute mark. Filipe Sauturaga contributed with three crucial conversions. After the halftime break, Nasova added another try on the scoreboard, and Pilipo Bukayaro followed suit shortly thereafter. Ilikimi Vunaki also scored, with Terio Veilawa closing the Fijian scoring with another try, supported by a conversion from Iowane Teba.

Argentina attempted to make a comeback with tries from Santiago Mare, Marcos Moneta, and Luciano Gonzalez, with additional conversions from Joaquin Pellandini, Santiago Vera Feld, and Gonzalez himself.

Looking ahead, Fiji will face Spain in the final at 4:11 AM, where they will aim to continue their strong performance and clinch the gold medal.
