The Fiji 7s team triumphed over Argentina with an impressive score of 43-21, securing a place in the gold medal final of the HSBC Dubai 7s tournament. Demonstrating their prowess, Fiji outperformed their South American rivals by scoring seven tries to Argentina’s three.
From the start, Fiji showcased their dominance, easily dictating the pace of the match. By halftime, they had already established a solid 21-7 lead. Their composed play and aggressive defense allowed them to maintain significant control and possession throughout the game.
The scoring began early with George Bose touching down just two minutes in, quickly followed by Joji Nasova at the four-minute mark, and captain Jeremaia Matana shortly afterward at the seven-minute mark. Filipe Sauturaga contributed with three successful conversions. After the break, Nasova added another try at the nine-minute mark, and Pilipo Bukayaro scored just a minute later. Ilikimi Vunaki also crossed the line to extend Fiji’s lead before Terio Veilawa capped off the scoring with a final try. Iowane Teba contributed one conversion.
Argentina managed to score three tries through Santiago Mare, Marcos Moneta, and Luciano Gonzalez, with Joaquin Pellandini, Santiago Vera Feld, and Gonzalez adding three conversions.
