With the Men’s World Cup Qualifiers approaching, Cricket Fiji is focused on enhancing its preparations. Chief Executive Officer Sitiveni Rokoro has announced that two promising players will travel to Australia to compete in the Multicultural Cup later this month. This tournament is seen as a crucial opportunity for these athletes to gain valuable experience and exposure, which will assist them in their quest for success in the upcoming qualifiers.

Rokoro emphasized the importance of this experience, noting that the players will have the chance to familiarize themselves with turf pitches, as they currently practice on synthetic surfaces in Fiji. “We are sending two players down to Canberra to play in the Multicultural Cup. This will give them a feel for playing on turf before they head to Japan for the World Cup qualifying in May,” said Rokoro.

In addition to tournament participation, the men’s extended squad has recently undergone fitness testing to assess their physical readiness, which will inform their training plans leading up to the critical qualifiers. The excitement around the qualifiers, set to take place in Japan in May, signifies a positive outlook for Cricket Fiji as they prepare to showcase their talent on an international stage. The proactive steps taken now aim to enhance the team’s performance and foster a spirit of development within Fijian cricket.
