Fiji Cracks Down on Porn Stars: Deportation Ordered

Spread the love

Fiji’s Home Affairs Minister, Pio Tikoduadua, has made it clear that the country is not a place for pornographic content or adult film production. This statement follows the recent deportation of British adult film actress Tia Emma Billinger, known as ‘Bonnie Blue,’ along with Australian cameraman Annie Knight from their hotel in Nadi. Minister Tikoduadua emphasized that the Fijian government will not tolerate illegal activities, particularly when it comes to producing pornographic material.

The minister pointed out that Billinger’s social media posts indicated her intent to create adult content while in Fiji, which is in violation of local laws. He cited Section 377 of the Crimes Act regarding trafficking in obscene publications as a basis for their deportation, underlining the government’s commitment to maintaining the integrity and moral standards of the nation.

He acknowledged the difficulty in vetting individuals entering the country, especially those using aliases, but assured that the Immigration Department would enhance efforts to prevent any breaches of the law. With a history of similar actions by Billinger targeting young school leavers internationally, the Fijian government remains vigilant to protect its reputation as a tourist destination, especially for Australian schoolies who frequently visit the islands for their celebrations.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to local laws and customs when traveling abroad, underlining Fiji’s dedication to preserving its cultural environment. As Fiji continues to welcome millions of tourists each year, the government’s stance may bolster its appeal as a safe and family-friendly destination.

In conclusion, while the actions taken may seem strict, they reflect Fiji’s commitment to ensuring that its image as a reputable holiday destination remains intact, safeguarding its cultural principles for future visitors.
