In the past 48 hours, fourteen motorists have been arrested for drunk driving, bringing attention once again to the grave dangers associated with impaired driving. The Fiji Police Force has issued renewed warnings regarding the significant risks of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

These arrests occurred during traffic operations conducted across the nation, where officers emphasized that drunk driving is a major contributor to serious and often fatal road accidents. The frequency of such incidents highlights a pressing need for increased public awareness and adherence to road safety regulations.

In conjunction with the drunk driving arrests, police reported an additional 256 bookings for speeding, underscoring ongoing non-compliance with established road safety laws. This trend raises concerns about the broader implications for road safety in Fiji.

In response to these alarming statistics, authorities have announced that traffic operations will continue across the country. The aim is to reduce road fatalities and promote responsible driving behavior among all motorists. This proactive approach reflects a commitment to enhancing the safety of roads and ensuring that drivers remain vigilant to the dangers of impaired or reckless driving. The Fiji Police Force continues to advocate for greater awareness and responsibility among drivers to ultimately save lives on the roads.
