A 40-year-old businessman from Lautoka, Shaneil Suresh Autar, has made an appearance in Nadi Magistrate’s Court following his arrest and re-charging in connection with the alleged exportation of over 39 kilograms of cocaine to Australia back in 2019.
According to police reports, Mr. Autar was originally charged alongside a foreign national; however, the case was discontinued after a nolle prosequi was filed by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Mr. Autar is being represented by Mark Anthony from Millbrook Hills Law Partners, while ODPP Senior Legal Officer Joeli Nasa is representing the state. The proceedings are currently ongoing, and details surrounding the case are expected to develop as the hearing progresses.
This case highlights the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces in combating drug trafficking in the region, and communities continue to remain vigilant against such activities.
