The man accused of murdering his wife during a domestic dispute in Veisari, Lami, made his latest court appearance at the Suva Magistrates Court. The 39-year-old suspect is alleged to have transported his wife’s body to the Totogo Police Station following the tragic incident earlier this month.

During the court proceedings, a lack of clarity ensued when it was noted that the state counsel was not present. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the case file had not yet been sent to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for a legal opinion, which contributed to the confusion in the courtroom.

Suva Magistrate Yogesh Prasad decided to adjourn the case for an additional 14 days, allowing the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions time to review the file and provide necessary legal guidance. The next court date is set for January 14, when further developments in the case are anticipated.

This case highlights ongoing concerns regarding domestic disputes and the legal system’s handling of such sensitive matters, reinforcing the importance of timely and effective legal processes.
