Tourism Fiji, in collaboration with Fiji Airways, recently held its inaugural in-person industry talanoa session for Coral Coast tourism operators since the reopening of Fiji post-COVID. This significant gathering took place at the Warwick Fiji Resort and attracted around 30 partners from the Coral Coast region extending to Pacific Harbour, as well as key international trade representatives from Australia and New Zealand.
The session provided a platform for open dialogue regarding the challenges faced by the Coral Coast area, emphasizing how industry stakeholders can enhance collaboration to promote sustainable growth. With visitor arrival patterns stabilizing across critical markets, discussions heavily concentrated on issues related to seasonality, particularly the return of shoulder and low seasons. Participants acknowledged the importance of devising coordinated tactical campaigns to stimulate demand during these less busy periods.
Tourism Fiji highlighted that operators and partners explored methods to boost global visibility, align product offerings with market demands, and collectively fortify the Coral Coast’s appeal. Dr. Paresh Pant, the chief executive officer of Tourism Fiji, stressed the significance of these talanoa sessions as a means to ground the national tourism strategy in real-world industry conditions.
Dr. Pant noted, “These talanoa sessions allow us to listen directly to our industry partners, understand the challenges they are facing on the ground, and work together on practical solutions.” He emphasized the increasing necessity for collaboration, especially in addressing seasonality through well-structured campaigns that not only support regions like Coral Coast but also safeguard Fiji’s long-term tourism viability.
The valuable insights gathered from these discussions will play a crucial role in shaping future marketing efforts and collaborative initiatives designed to drive demand while fostering sustainable and well-distributed tourism growth throughout Fiji. The event was attended by key figures, including Dr. Pant, regional directors, and executives from Fiji Airways, as well as representatives from various travel agencies like Fusion Holidays, Ignite Travel, and House of Travel. This collaboration marks a hopeful step towards revitalizing Fiji’s tourism industry, ensuring its resilience and sustainability in the future.
