Fiji Concert Strikes a $1 Million Economic Chord!

Tony Whitton, managing director of Rosie Holidays Fiji, has praised the organizers of the George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso Homecoming Concert, noting that the two-day event contributed approximately $1 million to the local economy. Whitton expressed admiration for the professionalism displayed by the organizers, highlighting the positive impact on attendees and the number of visitors arriving from Australia, New Zealand, Samoa, and Vanuatu.

Whitton emphasized the dual benefits of the concert, stating, “Not only did it provide a delight for the community, there was also a very obvious economic benefit.” He pointed out that the concert significantly boosted visitor numbers and contributed to various sectors, such as VIP services, stage setup, lighting, and security, leading to a total economic injection of at least $1 million.

In related remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica described the concert as inspiring and emotional, labeling it a “performance for the ages.” He recounted the experience, sharing that artist George Veikoso performed for 90 minutes straight and proudly acknowledged what Veikoso has accomplished. Kamikamica noted that the concert also served as an excellent platform for showcasing Pacific Islands talent, bringing Pasifika artistry to a global audience.
