Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, leader of the People’s Alliance, asserts that he continues to have significant backing from both the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) and the National Federation Party (NFP). His comments follow the swearing-in of three new Ministers and three new Assistant Ministers, an event he confirmed had the prior approval of both coalition partners.

During a media briefing, Rabuka expressed confidence in the coalition’s strength, referencing recent communications with party leaders. Viliame Takayawa, General Secretary of SODELPA, echoed these sentiments, indicating that the coalition remains stable and intact, though he declined to provide further details.

The NFP also reinforced its commitment to the coalition government, highlighting ongoing collaborative efforts among the parties involved. This support bodes well for the coalition’s unity, especially as they address long-term issues facing Fiji.

Just days earlier, key figures within the cabinet, including Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica and other ministers, publicly reaffirmed their support for Rabuka and the coalition’s objectives. They emphasized a strong relationship among coalition parties, focused on delivering results for the Fijian populace.

Looking ahead, Rabuka is slated to visit New Zealand, where he will meet with the Prime Minister and participate in Fiji Day celebrations, followed by involvement in the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa. This agenda reflects the coalition’s commitment to fostering a prosperous and sustainable future for all Fijians, particularly the youth.

In light of these developments, there is a sense of hope and determination among government leaders as they strive to maintain stability and serve the interests of the Fijian people.
