Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Viliame Gavoka has expressed confidence in the stability of Fiji’s coalition government and reiterated its commitment to serving the people. In a recent interview, he emphasized the importance of affirming the government’s unity and cooperative spirit among its partners.
“It’s timely that I do my part as Deputy Prime Minister and as part of the coalition to reassure the people that the coalition is on solid ground,” Gavoka stated, stressing that the collaboration among the political parties remains stronger than ever, despite the absence of two Cabinet members. He mentioned that their insights continue to influence the caucus, significantly guiding the coalition’s path toward the next election.
Highlighting Fiji’s promising development, Gavoka remarked that the strength of the current government is reflected in the country’s economic performance and the overall quality of life for Fijians. “Fiji’s government is solid, and the economy has been performing very well. Life in Fiji is among the best in this part of the world, and it will continue that way,” he asserted.
Additionally, Gavoka referred to the coalition’s partnership as a “three-legged stool,” emphasizing that it is balanced and firm, which is vital for ensuring sustained progress and effective governance in the nation. His positive outlook reflects the administration’s broader commitment to tackling national issues while fostering a prosperous environment for all citizens.
The Deputy Prime Minister’s assurances of unity and strength resonate with sentiments expressed by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and other coalition leaders, centering on the need for collaborative governance as Fiji faces ongoing challenges. As the government continues to engage with citizens and work diligently towards enhancing the nation’s welfare, there is a collective hope for a thriving future as they navigate the complexities of governance together.
