Fiji Classic Game Fishing 2024: Will Team Flame Tree Reign Supreme?

Team Flame Tree, led by captain Peter Levestam, is poised to dominate the upcoming Flame Tree-sponsored Fiji Classic Game Fishing 2024, set to commence this weekend. This event marks the inaugural anniversary tournament organized by the Denarau Game and Sports Fishing Club.

The tournament has attracted top fishing talent, including notable anglers like Jared Wood from Ice T, Thakor Punja of Lunasea, Darren Smith from Hoodlum, and the seasoned Marc McElrath. Cristina Valente from Sidestep represents the women’s division.

Event coordinator Glenn Wakeman emphasized the competition’s appeal, noting that it draws both local and international participants. The winning team will not only receive a cash prize of $10,000 but will also earn an invitation to the prestigious Offshore World Championship in Costa Rica in 2025.

In addition to the main prize, there will be numerous awards for different species, individual anglers, and boats, as well as exciting spot prizes. The tournament will take place at the new Clubhouse at Port Denarau Marina, conveniently located next to Sails Restaurant.

This tournament is particularly competitive, with Flame Tree currently leading the season’s teams’ standings with 2,313.7 points, followed closely by Ice T with 2,278.4 points, and other teams like Hoodlum and Lunasea trailing behind.

The overall prizes include the Champion Team prize, a tournament trophy alongside the cash award, as well as accolades for Champion Male, Female, Junior Anglers, and a Last Man Standing category.
