The upcoming Flame Tree-sponsored Fiji Classic Game Fishing 2024 is generating excitement as Team Flame Tree, led by captain Peter Levastam, emerges as the favorite to take the title. This marks the inaugural anniversary tournament, hosted by the Denarau Game and Sports Fishing Club.
A strong lineup of skilled anglers is set to compete, including Peter Levestam, Jared Wood from Ice T, Thakor Punja of Lunasea, Darren Smith from Hoodlum, Alex Leigh, and veteran angler Marc McElrath. The women’s category features Cristina Valente, representing Sidestep.
Event coordinator Glenn Wakeman expressed enthusiasm for the tournament, noting that it has attracted both local participants and international competitors. The winning team will receive an invitation to compete in the Offshore World Championship in Costa Rica in 2025, along with a substantial cash prize of $10,000. Currently, Team Flame Tree leads the season’s points tally with a total of 2313.7 points, followed closely by Ice T with 2278.4 points and Hoodlum at 1715.5 points. In terms of individual angler standings, Jared Wood is in the lead with 1771.8 points, followed by Levestam and Punja.
