Fiji Classic Game Fishing 2024: Who Will Reel in the Big Win?

Team Flame Tree, led by captain Peter Levestam, is poised to dominate the inaugural Flame Tree-sponsored Fiji Classic Game Fishing 2024, set to begin this weekend. Organized by the Denarau Game and Sports Fishing Club, this exciting tournament brings together top anglers from both local and international waters.

Among the competitors are notable fishermen including Jared Wood from Ice T, Thakor Punja of Lunasea, Darren Smith representing Hoodlum, Alex Leigh, and the experienced Marc McElrath. Women’s representative Cristina Valente from Sidestep is also joining the action.

Event coordinator Glenn Wakeman shared that the tournament not only features impressive cash prizes but also offers an exclusive invitation to the Offshore World Championship in Costa Rica in 2025 for the winning team, along with a substantial cash prize of $10,000. Participants will have the chance to win various prizes across multiple categories, including awards for different species, individual anglers, and boats. The event will take place at the new Clubhouse at Port Denarau Marina, conveniently located next to Sails Restaurant.

In terms of standings, Team Flame Tree leads the season’s teams’ tally with an impressive 2313.7 points, trailed closely by Ice T at 2278.4 points, and Hoodlum at 1715.5 points. Top individual performers include Jared Wood with 1771.8 points, Peter Levestam with 1500, and Thakor Punja at 1000 points, showcasing the fierce competition at this year’s event.

As the tournament approaches, enthusiasm builds among both participants and spectators, promising an exhilarating weekend filled with thrilling fishing action and camaraderie among fishing enthusiasts.
