Fiji claimed a 1-0 win over the Solomon Islands, securing 5th place in the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship 2024, thanks to a remarkable free-kick by Sisilia Kuladina.

Both teams approached the match after just missing out on the semi-finals, making for a tightly contested game. The Solomon Islands made a last-minute adjustment to their starting lineup, with Bella Fa’arodo replacing Joyce Siosi.

The first half saw few opportunities, with the Solomon Islands hitting the post from a corner kick and Fiji’s goalkeeper Miliana Maramanikabu needing to be substituted after a head injury.

In the second half, the Solomon Islands came close to scoring, but ultimately it was Kuladina’s free-kick from just outside the penalty area that proved decisive. Fiji maintained their lead while the Solomon Islands struggled to find an equalizer.
