As Fiji rejoices in the spirit of Christmas, reflecting on the birth of Jesus Christ, Archbishop Peter Loy Chong has issued an inspiring message to the youth, emphasizing that “God hears their cries.” Amidst the struggles of society, including issues like teenage pregnancies and drug addiction, Archbishop Loy Chong reminded the faithful that the essence of Christmas is centered around God’s love.
In his heartfelt address, he stated, “If you are taking drugs, know that God loves you. If you experience loneliness and isolation, God loves you. If you feel unloved or are a victim of domestic violence or sexual abuse, God loves you.” His words aim to comfort those who may feel marginalized and to reinforce the message that no one is alone during this festive season.
The Archbishop highlighted the transformative power of God’s love, which brings healing, unity, and reconciliation. He asserted, “There is no sin that God cannot forgive, no wound that God cannot heal.” This Christmas, he urged everyone to remember that God compassionately listens to the struggles of humanity and creation alike.
Furthermore, he explained that God is actively present in the midst of suffering and loneliness, entering into the broken aspects of life. “Christmas is about God, who is love, reaching out to us with love,” he concluded.
Emphasizing the unconditional nature of divine love, Archbishop Loy Chong encouraged all Fijians to acknowledge their worth: “God loves us unconditionally. There is no condition for God’s love for us.” This Christmas, the message is clear: every individual is cherished and loved by God, offering hope and solace to many in need.
