The Office of the President of Fiji has officially received a new executive sedan from the People’s Republic of China, marking a significant gesture of friendship between the two nations. The vehicle was presented during a ceremony where President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu expressed gratitude for the donation and reaffirmed Fiji’s dedication to the One China Policy.

In his remarks, President Lalabalavu acknowledged the resilient partnership that has flourished over the years between Fiji and China. He identified China as a vital development partner, highlighting collaborative efforts across various sectors including health, agriculture, education, and infrastructure. The President thanked China for its support in significant initiatives such as malaria control and assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic, along with the recent refurbishment of a wing of State House in 2025.

Wang Yuan, China’s Chargé d’Affaires ad interim to Fiji, remarked that this donation signifies the enduring friendship shared by the two nations. He noted that Fiji was the first Pacific Island country to establish diplomatic relations with China, and both countries celebrated 50 years of diplomatic ties last year. The new Hongqi H9 executive sedan is expected to enhance the operational capabilities of the Office of the President and further reinforce the strong bilateral relations.

This ongoing cooperation highlights the commitment of both countries to a future of shared development and mutual support, representing a positive step toward continued partnership and collaboration.
