The Fiji Commerce & Employers Federation (FCEF) successfully hosted its latest CEO’s Networking Event on February 27, attracting over 90 executive leaders and business owners for an evening dedicated to connection and collaboration. The event was graciously hosted by the British High Commissioner to Fiji, Kanbar Hossein-Bor, at his residence.
This networking event was more than just a casual gathering; it served as a vital platform for participants to share their challenges, exchange innovative ideas, and identify potential opportunities, all aimed at bolstering Fiji’s private sector. The presence of Prime Minister Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka as the chief guest provided attendees with a unique chance to engage directly with the government leader.
In his address, the Prime Minister recognized the current difficulties faced by businesses, particularly emphasizing key government initiatives aimed at enhancing the ease of conducting business in Fiji. He actively encouraged ongoing dialogue and collaboration between the government and the private sector, highlighting the importance of ensuring that business challenges are part of national discussions.
The informal setting allowed CEOs and business leaders to voice their concerns, share critical insights, and discuss areas where government support could drive growth. This exchange underscored the government’s awareness of the pressures the private sector currently faces, demonstrating its commitment to supporting businesses and national bodies such as the FCEF.
Creating access to such interactions is a fundamental role of the FCEF, which is committed to representing employers and businesses across Fiji. The organization hosts various initiatives, including the CEO’s Networking Event and the State of the Economy Breakfast Talanoa, facilitating direct connections between business leaders and decision-makers.
The challenges confronting businesses today—such as rising input costs, regulatory changes, labor shortages, and global supply chain disruptions—make these discussions increasingly relevant. Navigating evolving policy reforms requires strategic action from the private sector, and the FCEF is dedicated to ensuring that these voices are heard at a national level.
Beyond policy engagement, the CEO’s Networking Event is essential for building and strengthening professional relationships across various industries. Strong networks empower businesses to share knowledge, seek partnerships, and tackle challenges collectively.
The FCEF extends its gratitude to the British High Commissioner and his family for opening their home for the event, which reflects the strong ties between Fiji’s business community and international partners. Special thanks were also given to Tappoo Group for their ongoing support and sponsorship.
Looking forward, FCEF is poised to continue fostering purposeful opportunities for engagement, focusing on policy discussions, training needs, and regulatory challenges. These efforts are set to benefit not only FCEF’s members but the broader business community in Fiji, creating a hopeful outlook for future collaboration and growth.
