Fiji Celebrates Unity: The Impact of Chinese Culture in Our Community

The Chinese community has played a crucial role in the multicultural landscape of Fiji, significantly contributing to the nation’s growth and its rich cultural heritage. During the celebration of the China National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival 2024 in Suva, Fiji’s President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere highlighted the importance of the Chinese traditions, values, and hard work in shaping Fiji into a vibrant and inclusive society.

President Katonivere noted that the Moon Festival serves as a reminder of the core values that unite the community—family, unity, and love for one another. “As we gather today, we are reminded of the importance of these values in our own lives and in our community. The spirit of the festival symbolizes harmony and completeness, reflecting the unity and strength of our diverse society here in Fiji,” he stated.

The celebration aligns with the Coalition Government’s efforts to enhance interpersonal connections between Fiji and China, a pioneering initiative for any Pacific Island nation.
