The Chinese community has played a vital role in the multicultural landscape of Fiji, making significant contributions to the country’s development and cultural heritage. This was emphasized by Fiji’s President, His Excellency Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, during the China National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival 2024 celebration held in Suva.
President Katonivere noted that the traditions, values, and dedication of the Chinese community have greatly influenced Fiji, helping to establish it as a vibrant and inclusive nation. He remarked that the Moon Festival serves as a reminder of the core values that unite the people of Fiji, including family, unity, and love for one another.
“As we come together today, we reflect on the significance of these values in our personal lives and within our communities. The spirit of the festival embodies harmony and completeness, symbolizing the unity and strength derived from our diverse society in Fiji,” President Katonivere stated.
This celebration also aligns with the Coalition Government’s efforts to enhance interpersonal connections between Fiji and China, marking a notable milestone for any Pacific Island nation.
