Fiji Celebrates Unity and Heritage at China National Day Festivities

The Chinese community has played a vital role in shaping the multicultural landscape of Fiji, significantly contributing to the country’s growth and cultural richness. During the celebration of the China National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival 2024 in Suva, Fijian President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere emphasized the impact of the Chinese traditions, values, and hard work in fostering the vibrant and inclusive nation Fiji is today.

President Katonivere noted that the Moon Festival serves as a reminder of important values that unite the community, including family, unity, and love for one another. He remarked, “As we gather today, we are reminded of the importance of these values in our own lives and in our community. The spirit of the festival symbolizes harmony and completeness, reflecting the unity and strength of our diverse society here in Fiji.”

This celebration aligns with the initiatives of the Coalition Government aimed at enhancing relationships between the people of Fiji and China, marking a significant step for any Pacific Island nation.
