The Mid-Autumn Festival in Fiji highlights the nation’s diversity and appreciation for its Chinese community. Also referred to as the Moon Festival, this event was celebrated by the Chinese population in Fiji with themes of gratitude and sharing joy.
During the festivities in Suva, Fiji’s President Wiliame Kotonivere expressed his gratitude to the Chinese farmers for their crucial role in local agriculture. “They have been instrumental in farming our everyday food crops, ensuring that our families have a choice of locally grown vegetables,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of their contributions to Fiji’s agricultural exports.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is highly anticipated among the Chinese community in Fiji and worldwide, marking the harvest season and serving as a time for family gatherings and expressions of thanks.
