The Minister for Education, Honourable Aseri Radrodro, recently celebrated a significant milestone at Nasinu Muslim College, where 31 pioneering students graduated with National Vocational Certificate Level 3 qualifications in Fashion, Manufacturing and Design, and Carpentry. This historic ceremony marked the school’s first graduating class for these nationally recognized programs, which aim to prepare Fijian youth for skilled employment and entrepreneurship.

In his address, Minister Radrodro applauded the graduates for their dedication and resilience, and he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) pathways in Fiji. “This is just the beginning,” he encouraged, adding that these skills not only create opportunities for the graduates themselves but also contribute to building a more innovative Fiji.

A highlight of the ceremony was the graduation of the college’s first female carpentry graduate, which signifies progress in breaking down gender barriers in trades typically dominated by men. The event drew the attention of school board members, industry partners, and family members, all gathered to witness this important occasion. Minister Radrodro emphasized that the graduates are carrying the dreams of their families and the hopes of a nation invested in their potential.

The Ministry of Education continues to prioritize the expansion of TVET programs nationwide, ensuring that every young person has access to quality training and real career opportunities. This initiative resonates strongly with ongoing educational reforms aimed at addressing skill shortages and fostering economic growth in Fiji.

The achievements celebrated at Nasinu Muslim College reflect a broader trend in the nation’s shift towards valuing vocational education. Similar graduations at institutions across Fiji have underscored the importance of equipping young people with practical skills that meet industry demands. With continuous investment in this area, the optimism surrounding the potential of vocational education remains high, as these qualified graduates are set to play a pivotal role in driving innovation and progress in their communities.
