Veteran player Vitalina Naikore, known for her versatility in rugby, has been selected for the Fiji Bulikula squad as they prepare to compete for a place in the 2025 Women’s Rugby League World Cup. This year’s endeavor represents a significant moment for Fiji as they aim to secure their first-ever World Cup spot during the upcoming International World Series in Canada.

Fiji will face formidable challengers, including Canada and Ireland, with semi-finals scheduled at Terry Fox Stadium in Brampton on October 21, followed by the finals at Lamport Stadium in Toronto on October 26. Fiji National Rugby League Chairman Akuila Masi emphasized the importance of this event, stating, “This campaign is not just about showing up – it’s about showcasing the raw talent and passion that Fiji is known for on the rugby league pitch.”

The Bulikula’s aspirations echo their previous achievements, as the team recently climbed from 26th to 16th in the International Rugby League rankings, surpassing nations like Nigeria and Kenya. With intensive training slated to begin on January 10, following a break, coach Josaia Rabele has expressed optimism about the squad’s potential to compete at a higher level.
