Fiji Builkula Gears Up: Team Captain Highlights Key Strategies Before Clash!

Fiji Builkula held a training session at Albert Park yesterday as they prepare for their upcoming match against the Cook Islands Moana team in the second week of the 2024 Pacific Championships. Team captain Talei Holmes shared insights after the training, emphasizing their focus on key areas for improvement throughout the week.

“We all got together and did a bit of attack, a bit of defence, and went through all our movements for the week,” Holmes stated. “It was good to come together and handle the ball a bit.”

Holmes noted that the Cook Islands team presents a significant challenge, especially in the midfield. “We know we need to strengthen our ruck; they have some strong players,” she mentioned. “We must ensure our defence is solid, as that will be crucial for winning the game.”

With connections to Taveuni in the North, Holmes highlighted the team’s strong camaraderie since entering their training camp at the Grand Pacific Hotel on Saturday, followed by a church service at the Qauia Methodist Church in Lami on Sunday. “We’ve already formed a bond off the field; we’re doing devotions and team meetings, which I think is incredibly important,” she added. “We have a strong connection that we demonstrated on the field yesterday, and we’re continuing to build on that.”
