Emergency operations centers in Fiji’s Western Division will remain operational as the Fiji Meteorological Service forecasts persistent rainfall over the weekend. Divisional Commissioner Western, Apolosi Lewaqai, has urged the public to take necessary precautions in light of these weather conditions.

In response to recent flooding, authorities have distributed food rations to 61 families currently staying in evacuation centers across Nadi. These evacuees are residing at locations such as Andrews Primary School, Saioni Church, Korovuto Secondary School, and the Vou Dance Group Office.

Support has poured in from various faith-based organizations, non-governmental groups, businesses, and the Ministry of Health, who have provided not only food supplies but also cooked meals, bottled water, and hygiene kits to those affected.

For those in need of assistance, the following contacts are available:
– Commissioner Western’s Office: 6664946
– Commissioner Western’s Direct Line: 9937346
– Nearest Police Station: Reach out to your local station for emergencies.

This situation highlights the resilience and unity of the communities in response to natural disasters. Despite the challenges, the collaborative efforts of local organizations and government bodies are providing essential support to those who have been affected. There’s hope that the weather will improve soon, allowing families to return to their homes safely.
