The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) has announced potential water supply disruptions for customers in areas frequently impacted by high turbidity at the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant (WTP). Ongoing heavy rainfall is expected to deteriorate water quality in the source streams, complicating treatment and leading to reduced water production at the facility.

The neighborhoods likely to experience affected services include:

– Namadi Heights: Mika Drue Place and Pathik Crescent.
– Bayview Heights: Mead Road along with Volavola Road, Evetts Place, Top Shop Road, Sawau Road, Yohann Place, Vuibau Place, Sam Lal Road, Paul Sloan Street, and Joyce Perks Street.
– Sakoca Areas: Elevated regions along Lakha Singh Road, including Sakoca Road, Wrong Turn, Delaiveiruka Place, Raikiwai Road, and Nagatugatu Road.
– Tacirua: Higher areas along Tacirua Road, particularly Raibevu Road, Tacirua Heights, Raisuluwaki Road, Nakoivalu Road, and Dokanaisuva Road.
– Tamavua: Encompassing MH Superfresh, Upper Mead Road, and the entirety of Princes Road from Twomey Hospital to Loa Street Junction, which includes Tamavua Koro, Niranji, Devoji, Upper Ragg Avenue, and sectors leading to Lovoni Road Junction and other surrounding areas.
– Dokanaisuva: Along Princes Road from the Savutalele Junction to Khalsa Road Junction, incorporating Jeremiah College and adjacent routes.
– Coloisuva: Stretching along Princes Road from Joes Farm to Sawani Service Station, including various local roads and essential sites.
– Lami Area: Covering Upper Delanivesi Areas and Upper Lami Village Road, including several access roads and neighborhoods.

WAF expresses regret for the inconvenience and emphasizes its commitment to ensuring water safety and supply. In light of the situation, residents are encouraged to store sufficient water for essential needs, limit non-essential usage, and ensure that stored water is clean and covered.

The WAF teams remain diligent in monitoring conditions and are dedicated to restoring full service as conditions improve. Customers seeking more information or support can reach out via phone or email.

In summary, while current weather conditions may pose challenges to water supply, the proactive measures from the Water Authority and the cooperation of the community can help mitigate inconveniences. Hopeful efforts are underway to ensure safe and reliable water access for all residents during this period.
