A trough of low pressure is currently situated over Fiji and is moving southward. According to the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi, the weather will be influenced by associated clouds and showers, which are expected to impact most areas of the country over the coming days.

The forecast indicates that there will be occasional showers, some of which may be heavy, along with possible thunderstorms in the Northern Division, Yasawa, Mamanuca, Lomaiviti, and Lau groups by midnight tonight. Rainfall is anticipated to become more frequent later today.

In other regions, cloudy periods are expected with brief showers and potential for isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening. The forecast also warns that localized heavy rainfall could result in flash flooding in low-lying areas.

Moderate to fresh easterly winds are anticipated as well.

This weather pattern serves as a reminder of nature’s power and the importance of preparedness for adverse conditions. By staying informed and ready, communities can better navigate potential challenges posed by heavy rains and thunderstorms.
