Fiji Braces for Rough Seas and Strong Winds This Weekend

A strong wind warning has been issued for all Fiji Waters for the upcoming weekend. The Fiji Meteorological Services provided a serious alert indicating that rough sea conditions are anticipated.

Sailors and fishermen are being urged to take necessary precautions and avoid venturing into turbulent waters. The prevailing weather pattern includes an east to southeast wind flow across the Fiji islands, with a trough of low pressure situated to the south.

By midday today, easterly to southeasterly winds of 20 to 25 knots are expected, resulting in rough seas and moderate southerly swells.

Occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms are predicted for several areas, including:

– Serua-Namosi
– Navua-Suva-Nausori-Tailevu
– Naitasiri
– Ra-Rakiraki
– Eastern Macuata
– Southern Bua
– Cakaudrove
– Kadavu
– Lau
– Lomaiviti groups

Other regions can expect cloudy conditions accompanied by showers and the possibility of isolated thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon and evening. A similar weather pattern is forecasted across all divisions and outer islands, with potential isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening on Saturday.
