A slow-moving trough of low pressure is currently hovering over the Fiji group, bringing cloud cover and rainfall that is predicted to last until tomorrow, according to the Fiji Meteorological Service. The weather service also noted the presence of a shallow Tropical Disturbance (TD03F) positioned east of Fiji, which is anticipated to shift southeastward away from the islands.
Residents in areas such as Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, coastal Serua-Namosi, as well as the interior regions of Serua-Namosi, Naitasiri, Kadavu, and nearby smaller islands—including Cakaudrove province, Southern Bua, Lomaiviti, and Lau groups—should expect occasional rain, with heavy downpours likely and the possibility of thunderstorms.
The Fiji Meteorological Service warns that significant rainfall can lead to flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone zones. However, there is some relief in sight, as rain is expected to gradually clear and ease by later Thursday.
In summary, while Fiji is experiencing a wet spell with potential flooding risks, the situation is projected to improve in the coming days, encouraging residents to remain cautious yet hopeful for better weather.
