The Fiji Meteorological Service has issued a warning for significant rainfall and strong winds as Tropical Disturbance TD03F is affecting the country’s weather. In a media release at 1 PM today, the Met Service indicated that TD03F is currently slow-moving over waters east of the Solomon Islands and north of Vanuatu, with a slight possibility of evolving into a tropical cyclone in the coming five days.
TD03F is projected to move in a southeast direction, anticipated to enter Fijian waters between Tuesday and Wednesday. The arrival of this system is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds, raising concerns about potential flash flooding and river flooding, particularly during the specified period.
The Met Service noted that rainfall is likely to intensify starting Monday night as the system approaches, with parts of Fiji already experiencing bursts of heavy rain and thunderstorms. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and prepare for adverse weather conditions as the situation develops.
This event underscores the importance of community preparedness in the face of unpredictable weather patterns, reinforcing ongoing efforts by local authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of Fijian residents.
